Guardian Program

We strive to provide the very best for our breeding dogs. To ensure we are able to give our Doodle moms & dads the best and happiest life possible, we limit the number of dogs who live with us here at the Ranch. This allows us to expand our breeding program as needed, maintain genetic diversity, and continue producing the best possible puppies.

The Guardian Program makes this possible! Qualified families in our local area can receive a beautiful, high quality, health tested puppy or dog at no cost while we retain ownership & breeding rights until fulfillment of contract/retirement. This is a lifetime placement!

REQUIREMENTS for Female Puppies (8 weeks-1 year):

• Females placed on a 4 litter contract (males unavailable at this time)
• Must be a homeowner with no plans to move out of area for at least 5 years.
• Must live within a 1.5 hour drive of Temecula CA or 2 hours of our home.
• Must have own transportation & availability to pick up/drop off dog when needed.
• Must have some dog ownership experience, specifically with doodle type is preferred.
• Must use our groomer in Murrieta if possible. Our vet in Temecula is preferred but not required.
• Must be able to detect heat cycles & keep our dog away from other intact dogs.
• Must be ok with periodic separation from the dog. Females will return to us for approx. 3-7 days for breeding & 7 weeks to whelp/raise her litters. We currently plan for ONE LITTER per year.
• Must be able to maintain a healthy weight & proper grooming/coat maintenance.
• Must crate train & use a crate regularly. When visiting us, all dogs are crated at night, in the car, at the reproductive vet, and any additional circumstance needed.

Modified REQUIREMENTS for Adult Females (1+ years old):

• Females placed on a 1-4 litter contract (1 per year)
• Must be a homeowner with no plans to move out of area for 2-3 years.
• Must live within a 2.5 hour drive of Temecula, CA or 3 hours of our home.
• Dogs are encouraged to attend a 2+ week Board & Train program. We have 2 preferred trainers. Guardians must be able/willing to maintain training & general good manners.
• Our groomer preferred; any vet OK. No additional transport/visits needed for health testing or photos after 1 year old, so less driving back and forth.

Sunny Ridge's financial responsibilities: Cost of the puppy, annual veterinary exams, vaccines, vitamins & supplements, health testing for breeding purposes, reproductive related medical care, & spay/neuter at retirement.

Guardian Family's financial responsibilities: Transportation to and from Sunny Ridge as needed, food (approved by us), toys & supplies, grooming every 4-8 weeks (Sunny Ridge will arrange and pay for 1st groom for photos) and any additional medical costs for accidental illness or injury that isn't breeding/reproductive.

Professional Training is now mandatory for all Guardian puppies at 4-6 months old. Obedience required: crate training, polite leash walking, "shhh"/quiet command, sit, down, recall, general good manners, and proper socialization with people and dogs.

Training is at Guardian's expense. This is due to issues we've encountered with Guardians' lack of commitment to providing proper training and investing in good lifelong behavior. These are incredibly special and valuable dogs to us, and we want to ensure their placement with you is for life!
